Recently, Jay Group’s Human Resources Manager, Jane Haught, sat down for one on one mock interviews with 12 students from the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (LCCTC) and the Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13)’s Materials Handling & Logistics Transition program 2018-2019 semester.
Following each meeting, Jane provided immediate feedback on what they did correctly from their handshake, maintaining eye contact, having questions to ask, and speaking to their strengths, as well as constructive notes for future interviews.
While the individual interviews provided an authentic experience for students, they are just one part of Jay Group’s partnership with the LCCTC and IU13. Jay Group is proud to work with these organizations to also provide hands-on experience in material handling and logistics for students. By working in warehouse environments like Jay Group’s fulfillment and contract packaging departments, students are able to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world situations.
Jamie Carr, Learning Support Teacher of the Materials Handling and Logistics Transition Program shared her view of the partnership saying,
“The 2018-2019 school year has been a great year for the Material Handling and Logistics program at the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center! Through our partnership with Jay Group, our students gained relevant, hands-on work experience in the different fulfillment and specialty packaging departments. Through these mock interviews students also received an authentic and practical experience that further supports their job search efforts. We enjoy working with Jay Group and look forward to partnering over many more semesters.”
